Surpassing Tesla in global EV sales in Q4 2023, BYD is one of the fastest-growing auto manufacturers globally. Their rapid expansion into Europe and the UK has been driven by its strategic marketing initiatives, notably sponsorship of major events and collaborations with popular media.
We identified DreamWorksAnimation’s The Wild Robot cinema release as the perfect partner to help BYD support the launch of their new Seal U DM-I family SUV. The film’s themes of adventure, family and harmony between technology and the environment enabled us to highlight the Seal’s distinctive features and benefits in a relevant, attention-grabbing way.
The campaign, which rolled out across TV, digital, dealerships and experiential events, helped BYD continue its steep growth trajectory, with the brand experiencing a 658% increase in sales from 2023 to 2024 and brand recognition increasing from 1% to 31% during the same period.
Our subsequent partnership with the live action film How To Train Your Dragon helped BYD to launch its new Dolphin Surf vehicle in the UK.
